Today is Friday, July 25. It is a magical day. Let’s remember this day forever, okay? Why? Because The Crafty Fox would like to announce the beginning of something really, truly great. It has always been one of our goals to bring together community. And in my personal opinion, there is nothing more communal than crafting something from the heart for someone who needs it most. I would like to announce the beginning of The Crafty Heart Club. Our purpose is to use our crafting skills to lift up those who need lifting up. We will partner with local, national, and international organizations to make and give handmade necessities of all kinds. Whether you are a beginner, a master crafter, or have never even picked up a needle and thread, you are welcome to join in!
The Crafty Heart Club will meet every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 at The Crafty Fox, 2013 Pacific Ave. Even if you can only attend once in a while, or even if you’d like to participate but can’t attend meetings at all, that’s okay! You can craft along from home and drop off your finished projects with us at a designated time.
Our very first Project starts next week! For our first project we will be partnering with The Foster Closet in Hillsboro. This amazing non-profit is a Godsend for many foster families and children, who often start out with little or no clothing at all. The Foster Closet accepts donations of clean, good condition clothing and some toys and other items at its location on TV Highway. Our project will be making very simple but incredibly important emergency bags to hold emergency sets of clothing for kids who would otherwise be using trash bags for their clothes during an already difficult time. Handmade bags are not only practical, but they help boost the self esteem of the kids and teens who are moving from place to place. We’ll try and make as many bags as possible by September 1st.
