FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
THE CRAFTY FOX POP-UP SHOP OPENS IN FOREST GROVE FOR YOUR LOCAL, HANDMADE HOLIDAY SHOPPING (AND CRAFTING) NEEDS!
Forest Grove, OR (October 18, 2013) – The Crafty Fox, a unique holiday pop-up shop located in downtown Forest Grove, opened October 16th, and features a wide variety of handmade gifts from over 40 vendors from around the state. The husband-and-wife team of Ixchel Lechuga and Eric Arenson began The Crafty Fox as a way to connect crafters and artisans with a growing audience of shoppers interested in supporting local communities and shopping handmade.
While many consider Portland to be the crafty powerhouse in the Pacific Northwest, creativity is alive and strong all over the region. From the beaches of Astoria down to the trees of Ashland, designers, crafters, and makers are producing an incredible variety of handmade gifts for all ages, from upcycled journals to soaps and perfumes, eco-friendly housewares to art prints and greeting cards, to jewelry and accessories. The Crafty Fox carries the work of indie entrepreneurs such as Bread & Badger, Turntable Books, Midnite Oils, Kara Burke Illustrations, Rebicyclist, Helvi Smith, MarshMueller and many more talented designers and crafters. The best of these items will be available for sale for a limited time at The Crafty Fox!
“The more we got to know our community here in Forest Grove, the more we learned how many creative people we had for neighbors. We wondered how many other small towns around Oregon had similar people in their communities, and we were surprised to find so many,” said co-owner Ixchel. “Shopping online (at popular sites like Etsy.com) is great, but you still can’t touch and see the item.” Having operated her own handmade business, Polly Danger, and participating in craft shows across the country for the past seven years, Ixchel is excited to bring her experience in the handmade movement to a brick-and-mortar retail shop. Eric brings his extensive experience in graphic design, marketing, and web development to what the couple hopes will become a beacon for both creative entrepreneurs and shoppers who love handmade.
The Crafty Fox will be open throughout the holiday shopping season, and will also feature in-store classes focusing on beginning crafts, helping to inspire creativity in others. Look for more information about exciting upcoming events, including a Halloween photo booth and make & take crafts for trick or treaters, upcoming classes and workshops, and a holiday benefit event for the Forest Grove Community School. Updates and announcements can be found on their website, https://thecraftyfoxshop.com, as well their Facebook page, http://facebook.com/CraftyFoxShop where you’ll also find examples of the wide variety of handmade goods available for purchase.
