Although you can’t see it from the street, we are quite busy at the shop right now. Turning a blank office setup into a light and airy shop is no easy task, especially when one of us works full time in Portland and the other one of us has an adorable, but very active, one year old attached to her hip. But we are not the only busy ones. Our vendors are working over time to churn out gorgeous wares for the shop. For our shop. For our community to see and touch and love. Gosh this gig is rad!
This vendor spotlight is on Rebicyclist. Just when you thought upcycling could get no cooler, Julien Jaborska comes along with bicycle tire belts. Genius, and pretty darn cool looking, I might add. I know what the cyclist men in my life are getting for Christmas this year!
Vendor: Rebicyclist

From: Portland, OR
Julien says:
I’ve been making belts out of old bike tires since sometime in
2007 and riding bikes since long before that. While working as a bike
mechanic I was amazed at the amount of garbage a shop could generate.
I also needed a belt. I took some tires home and a crude version of my
bike tire belts was born!
Portland area riders supply me with a never ending amount of raw
material. Even though the tire may no longer be any good for it’s
original use, it’s still extremely strong, and the natural elasticity
makes for a very comfortable, very durable belt.
