Hello world!

tcf_family_photoHello world!  Hello friends, hello neighbors, hello strangers, hello! Our website is up and we’ve posted all of the important information, but there is so much more to say!  So here is our blog.  Let’s introduce ourselves.

We are Eric and Polly.  Who are Eric and Polly, you ask?  Just a couple of crafty kids with an eye for design and a love of handmade, that’s all.  Well, I guess there’s more to us than that.  Um, let’s start with a love story.

Once upon a time there was a cute and crafty girl who wore striped shirts and knee socks.  She met a boy, a redheaded boy, as a matter of fact, and they fell in love.  The boy would leave letters under her front door before school, always sealed in a ziploc bag to protect them from dew.  The girl joined a very bad punk band and the boy drew comics.  They were bestest friends and soul mates and just like every high school couple in love, they knew that they would be together forever and ever.  And they meant it.  Hardcore.  When it came time to go to college the boy  left for Olympia, Washington where he studied, among other things, Propaganda and Persuasion and Visual Arts.  The girl moved to San Francisco where she studied Creative Writing and lived in a pink aparment that was permanently draped in fog.

Though the boy and girl were a thousand miles apart, their bonds grew stronger.  Time and life happened.  The boy lived in Japan.  Then he graduated and moved to San Francisco to be with the girl.  And then she moved to Tokyo where she discovered that beauty and function can be one and the same.  When the girl came home from Japan they got married.  Craftiness and design followed them everywhere.  Beautiful things became more and more important.  Beautiful living was next on the list.    They moved to Los Angeles.  Too much smog.  Too many “beautiful” people, not enough beautiful living.  So they took an epic roadtrip back to Washington, to what felt like the end of the earth.  They decided that they needed to live somewhere beautiful.  Somewhere real.  And somewhere that felt like a forever home.

……….

It was four years ago that Eric and I decided to leave our home town in Los Angeles for good.  We moved to Forest Grove because it felt right.  And since we’ve lived here we have met wonderful people and lifelong friends.  We’ve put down roots.  We started a family. We have found beautiful living.
